“Moar Communities helped us organise a national conference and that help was invaluable. From the initial planning through to all the operational detail needed to make the event a success, their involvement and contribution was thoughtful, reliable and impressive.”

Andy Benson, National Coalition of Independent Action Director (NCIA)

“Maxine Moar is an excellent trainer. Her work as an Associate for the Local Government Information Unit has always been very well received both for the depth of her expertise and the use of  imaginative and stimulating training techniques.  At the completion of a programme run by Maxine, participants are guaranteed to have the key skills and knowledge required to develop and embed community engagement strategies in their own areas.” April 8th 2012

Alan Waters, Learning & Development Manager, LGIU

I first met Maxine just over a year ago when she came to Offerton for part of the work that was happening with Baroness Newlove. Maxine has been a great support for me, Sometimes as a volunteer you feel you have the weight of the world on your shoulders and having someone like Max behind you gives you the extra drive you need. Recently had the great pleasure of meeting Laurence at a workshop held by GrantMoar communities. Maxine was fantastic  and I found the whole day enlightening and informative. Looking forward to working with you  again soon!  April 9th 2012

Hayley Bell, Chair of Friend Of Offerton Residents Group, Stockport

“At Havant we have a thriving partnership that was really effective at tackling the many and varied challenges that life throws up but we identified that we had no consistent exit strategy once the issues had been resolved - Maxine have taken us to another level in community involvement and has provided a number of options for us to take forward – a good interactive partnership training session!”

Tim Pointer, Community Safety Team Leader, Havant Borough Council

“My front line staff have all recently been through the ‘Practical Ways to Involve Residents’ training course delivered by Maxine in-house in Southampton. The tips that they have picked up will be used when they are looking to involve residents in estate based work during the coming year. They all enjoyed Maxine’s enthusiasm for the subject and are now better placed to work with residents in the future.”

Steve Smith, Housing Services Manager, Environment Directorate, Southampton

“Thank you Maxine and Laurence for facilitating the 21st February, it did get the 2 groups nicely together and not only sharing one and anothers’ ambitions but also finding where the problems lay. I believe that it gave everybody an insight to what we can achieve and also the fun we had finding out about what we did not know about our friends. You have given us an insight of what can be achieved.”

Win Gleed, Chair of BRAG Residents Group- Havering

Comments from the delegates at the Havant training

“I worked with Maxine when she was with NDC and was sufficiently impressed to later hire her to do some work for NHS Oldham, engaging with some of our harder to reach communities. I would certainly work with Maxine again in future.” January 3, 2012

Mark Drury, Associate Director, Engagement and Stakeholder Management at NHS Oldham

“In my experience Maxine is a genuine change maker. Her work in Oldham pioneered ‘rights and responsibilities’ deals between citizens and public services and produced valuable learning which many other communities have now emulated. Her strength is understanding how individual people work, how they work together in communities, and also how bureaucracies work (or don’t).” June 11, 2011

Ben Lee, Programme Director at Shared Intelligence and Director of National Association for Neighbourhood Management

“Maxine was instrumental in engaging both the community and the statutory agencies into a new dialogue which allowed the community itself to steer local service delivery. She did this with enormous enthusiasm, experience and patience making time to help everyone on this journey. Maxine is an absolute delight to work with and is more than willing to think on her feet to solve problems. I cannot recommend her highly enough and thank her for the considerable and lasting influence she has had.” August 3, 2011

Phil Morgan, Community Safety Officer, London Borough of Havering

“Maxine supported us to develop a new project in the Newport, South Wales area. Maxine is dynamic and passionate about her role and delivers excellent results. She is a very competent communicator and can interact and engage with individuals across all ability and social position ranges. I would have absolutely no hesitation in working with Maxine in the future. Her personality is infectious and she has the highest interity and commitment.” July 8, 2011
